Water Savings
uridan® water-free urinals function without water, and even cleaning them
requires less water than cleaning conventional flushing systems. Every
commercial or industrial urinal that is replaced by a uridan® water-free urinal
saves approximately 65,000 litres of water per year. This reduces the burden on
the sewage system and the sewage treatment works.
Energy Savings
The large water savings also mean a saving of several hundred kilowatt hours of
energy per year, if we take account of water purification and transport and
later sewage treatment.
Water pollution and emissions
uridan® water-free urinals do not require strong acid-based toilet cleaners and
deodoriser blocks, meaning less sewage and less harmful substances in the water.
Resource consumption
The production, maintenance and later disposal of a technically complex
automatic flushing system with water supply pipe are no longer necessary.
Transport demand
The transport of water is minimised. Since little maintenance is required,
tradesmen need not travel to the location to carry out repairs.
Product Lifespan
The useful life of a uridan® urinal is about 15–25 years, which is equal to or
longer than that of a conventional urinal. It is made of fibreglass-reinforced
polyester and ceramic that makes it near vandalism-proof.
Costs
uridan® water-free urinals pay for themselves within several months or a few
years depending on where they are installed. Compared with conventional flushing
systems, savings are achieved in operating costs (water, cleaning, and
maintenance). uridan® water-free urinals are also significantly cheaper to
purchase and install in new buildings.
Health and quality of life
uridan® water-free urinals are more hygienic than conventional flushing systems,
and the surface does not attract bacteria and fungi normally attributed to
flushing urinals, as they do not need the flushing rim, beneath which bacteria
and fungi can multiply.
Safety and operation
uridan® water-free urinals are less prone to overflow and blockage through
foreign objects such as cigarette butts and chewing gum.
Replacing a conventional urinal with a uridan® water-free urinal is quick and
uncomplicated. The urinal is exceedingly durable and virtually vandalism-proof.
